Presley!

Performance artist Mark W. Curran brings music to life for your

students. With authentic music and costume, Mark recreates the

excitement of an actual Elvis concert.

While being thoroughly captivated and entertained, your students will learn an

important part of musical history, and how musical styles evolved

into the popular music they hear today. Students will learn what rhythm is,

how syncopation works, and how to express themselves with

music.

With Elvis as a your guide, Mark demonstrates how a primarily

African-American style of music, rhythm and blues, influenced Elvis's music

and the birth of rock and roll.

This interactive program invites student volunteers up to the stage

to play some of the early rhythmic instruments that influenced Elvis's music.

Mark then performs examples of these styles in a fast paced medley

of Elvis hits, giving the children a chance to participate from both

the stage and the audience.

Study guides are made available prior to the program as pre-and

post show learning tools.
